Caldwell catches game-winning TD against Steelers

by Jon McDonald

It has been a pretty good day for former Florida receivers in the NFL. Vikings rookie Percy Harvin returned a kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown. Not to be outdone, Bengals receiver Andre “Bubba” Caldwell caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Carson Palmer with 14 seconds left as the Bengals beat the Steelers 23-20.

Caldwell had six receptions for 52 yards, and the touchdown was the first of his career. Caldwell had one more catch than flashy teammate Chad Ochocinco, who caught 5 passes for 54 yards.

In his final season at Florida in 2007, Caldwell had  56 receptions for 761 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The last time Caldwell helped a team win a game in the final seconds was in the 2008 Senior Bowl, when he took a handoff from former Vol quarterback Erik Ainge and scored a touchdown from two yards out as time expired.

And he made the catch against former Florida CB Keiwan Ratliff (who also used to be a Bengal). So it wasn’t a perfect day for the NFL Gators.
